The Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird is a Mach 3+ reconnaissance aircraft capable of operating at an altitude of 85,000 ft. The Blackbird was developed from the A-12 – an aircraft built for the US Central Intelligence Agency. The A-12/SR-71 was the first aircraft to be designed with a reduced radar cross-section. Aircraft 61-7964 was given the nickname “Bododian Express” after making an emergency landing in Bodo, Norway on 13 Aug 1981 due to an engine malfunction. A total of 32 SR-71s were built.
