AD305 - Air Drops cut from original JN-4 Canuck (Jenny) aileron fabric. The Curtiss JN Jenny was introduced in 1915 and served as a primary trainer for the United States Army Air Service and the Royal Flying Corps during WWI. The Jenny was the first aircraft to communicate to other aircraft and ground-based stations via radiotelephony, and in 1919 the JN-4 was credited with carrying out the first successful dive-bombing attack during the United States occupation of Haiti. After the War many Jennys were sold as surplus, sparking American interest in civil aviation. All AD305 Air Drops will ship in our Standard 3mm cards.
AD306 - Air Drops cut from a NASA Apollo Earth Landing System (ELS) main parachute that was used during test drop 86-1. Made by Northrop Ventura, the Apollo ELS (Earth Landing System) is a series of parachutes deployed during re-entry from orbit that ensured a safe, smooth touchdown of the Apollo Command Module into the ocean at 22 mph. Development of the ELS required a series of test drops using boilerplates to simulate the weight and aerodynamics of the CM. Tests were conducted in El Centro, CA and test articles were dropped from United States Air Force C-133 Cargomaster aircraft. The final qualification drop occurred on 03 July, 1968, only 3 months prior to Apollo 7. AD306 is offered in Standard (3mm card) or Thick (6mm card). The Thick AD306 Air Drops will feature portions of seams and other thicker elements whereas the Standard Air Drops will feature cuts from the main panels of the parachute.
AD307 - Air Drops cut from a P-40 Warhawk wing. The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk is a single-engine, all-metal fighter-bomber extensively employed by Allied forces during World War II. The P-40 boasted robust construction, formidable armament, and one of the highest maximum dive speeds among early war fighters. It served as the principal USAAF fighter aircraft during 1941–42, engaging Japanese forces at pivotal locations such as Pearl Harbor and the Philippines in December 1941, and distinguishing itself with the legendary Flying Tigers in China during 1942. All AD307 Air Drops ship in our Standard 3mm card.
AD308 - Air Drops cut from a wing tip removed from F-15E Strike Eagle 87-0208. Derived from the legacy F-15 Eagle, the McDonnell Douglas F-15E Strike Eagle is a strike-fighter aircraft that first flew in 1986. The Strike Eagle was designed to be a high-speed interdiction aircraft capable of reaching targets deep within enemy territory without the support of additional escort aircraft. Distinguishing itself from the legacy Eagles, the F-15Es feature a dark camouflage paint scheme and are fully equipped to carry-out ground-attack missions. Strike Eagles have been used extensively in military operations in the Middle East and in 2024 a derivative of the Strike Eagle - the F-15EX Enhanced Eagle, entered service with the United States Air Force. Most AD308 Air Drops will ship in our Standard 3mm card. A few will come in our Thick cards. Fulfillment is random.
AD309 - Air Drops cut from a flight suit worn by former Red Arrows pilot (Matt Masters - Red 8). The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, The Red Arrows, is the aerobatic display team for the Royal Air Force. Founded in 1964, “The Reds” celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2024. Based at RAF Waddington, the team performs at numerous British Air Shows throughout the year. The Reds originally flew the Folland Gnat, and transitioned to the BAE Hawk in 1979. The Hawk first flew in 1974 and entered service with the Royal Air Force in 1976. The Hawk has been operated by 18 different militaries around the world. AD309 is offered in Thick (6mm card) and Standard (3mm card). Thick AD309 Air Drops will feature portions of embroidery. A couple of the Standard Air Drops have small portions of embroidery; Most are solid red.
